Argentine Tango Classes in Phoenix To Relaunch On November 17

Phoenix, AZ — October 14, 2007 — After a three month hiatus, Valley tango dancers will be happy to see the return of Argentine Tango teacher Ravi Khalsa’s weekly classes at Cannedy Dance Center. Classes kick off with a special two hour class followed by a two hour dance. (see http://weblog.tangoaz.com)

Ravi Khalsa is a TANGO discovery Certified Master Teacher (CMT) of Argentine Tango. Trained in Buenos Aires by TANGO discovery founder Mauricio Castro, Ravi has been teaching weekly classes in Phoenix and Argentine Tango Workshops in the US and Canada since 2002. He and partner/wife Satya are the only TANGO discovery CMTs in North America.

On August 21, 2007, Ravi was injured in an accident and has been recovering since. The career threatening injury required surgery to repair a badly broken left shoulder. Recovery is going well thanks to an intense schedule of physical therapy, yoga and exercise. Ravi is preparing to teach a workshop in Canada, practicing for an upcoming performance and teaching private lessons.

As part of the TANGO discovery team, Ravi has been working on a system to accommodate dancers of all levels in the same class. As Ravi explains, “Experience has shown that every class we teach winds up with dancers of all levels. It doesn’t matter if we advertise for beginners, intermediate or advanced; we always get a wide level of experience and ability. So we decided to develop a teaching system to accommodate it. It turns out that this is a good way to teach. Social dancing always involves dancing with different levels and abilities, so it’s good to train dancers that way from the start.”

The two hour relaunch class on November 17 will show some of these ground breaking techniques.
